Common questions

What is the difference between full slab and prefab countertops?

Prefab countertops are pre-cut to standard sizes, which works well for many kitchens and baths. Full slabs are cut to your measurements, so they are the better choice for oversized islands, full-height backsplashes, book-matched pieces and slab shower walls.

What is the difference between quartz and quartzite?

Quartz is an engineered surface made from crushed natural quartz and resin, so its color and pattern are consistent. Quartzite is a natural stone formed from sandstone under heat and pressure, and every slab is unique.

What is the difference between engineered stone and natural stone like granite?

Natural stone such as granite, quartzite, and marble is quarried in solid slabs, so every piece is unique and no two are identical. Engineered stone is manufactured, so its color and pattern are consistent and predictable. Engineered quartz is non-porous and usually does not need sealing, while most natural stone is porous and benefits from periodic sealing. Natural stone tends to handle heat and direct sun better.

Quartz vs. granite: which is better for a Phoenix kitchen?

It depends on how you use your kitchen. Quartz is non-porous, rarely needs sealing, resists hard-water staining, and offers very consistent color, which makes it a great low-maintenance everyday choice. Granite is a natural stone with one-of-a-kind patterns and better tolerance for direct heat, but it needs periodic sealing. Many Phoenix buyers land on quartz for maintenance and consistency, and granite when they want a natural, heat-tolerant surface.

Can I choose the exact slab for my project?

Yes. Walk the warehouse, compare full slabs side by side and select the specific slab that will be fabricated for your countertops, backsplash or shower.

Not sure which to choose?

Bring a cabinet door, photo or measurements and walk the warehouse with our team.
