Most full kitchen remodels run about 6 to 12 weeks from demolition to final walkthrough. The planning, design, and ordering phase before demo can add several more weeks on top of that. Simple cosmetic refreshes finish faster, while projects with layout changes, permits, or long material lead times take longer. That depends most on the size of the job and whether you choose prefab or full-slab countertops. For a small kitchen with prefabricated tops it is typically about three days: plumbing is disconnected for demo, cabinets go in the next day, prefab counters the day after, and once the top sets for about 24 hours the plumbing is reconnected. A small kitchen with full raw slabs runs longer, roughly two and a half to three weeks, because the slab is templated and then fabricated off-site before it can be installed. Larger kitchens extend both. Setting up a temporary station with a microwave and a nearby water source makes the sink-less stretch much easier.

In our proposal packet, we'll give you all the information you need to get your kitchen ready for the remodel. You'll need to empty out your cabinets and clear off your countertops. We'll also ask that you move your appliances out of the kitchen and disconnect any plumbing connecting your dishwasher, sink, and garbage disposal. Finally, if you're having our team or other kitchen remodeling contractors install backsplash, you'll need to remove outlet covers and turn off those circuits.

The most common delays come from material lead times on custom cabinets, specialty tile, or exotic stone slabs; permit and inspection timing, which varies from one Valley city to the next; and scope changes made after work has already started. Finalizing your design, sink type, and material selections before ordering keeps the schedule intact, since switching materials after templating restarts the countertop fabrication process.

It comes down to fabrication. Prefabricated countertops are pre-cut and in stock, so several can be installed the day after your cabinets go in, with no templating wait. Full raw slabs are cut to order: they are templated after the cabinets are set, then fabricated off-site for about two and a half weeks before installation. Either way, the new top needs about 24 hours to set before the plumbing is reconnected.
