At Superior, we install both granite and quartz. Both are considered 'stone,' but there are some key differences. Granite is cut from stone slab, while quartz is ground up and then sealed in a resin. Because of this, granite is only available in colors found in nature, with that rich, unique stone veining. Quartz comes in a wider number of colors. Because it's a natural stone, its color is UV-stable, so it rarely fades from the direct sunlight that fills many Arizona kitchens, unlike some surfaces that can lighten over time near large windows.
