Common questions

What will my granite countertops cost?

This depends on several factors. The primary factor in your total cost of installation? The square footage of your kitchen. When we come out to your home for our free in-home estimate, we'll take measurements and determine how many square feet of material we need. Your choice of granite is the next deciding factor. Prefabricated granite is less expensive, but also comes with less options. Our designers can help you find the right granite for your kitchen or bathroom, at the right price.

How does granite compare to quartz?

At Superior, we install both granite and quartz. Both are considered 'stone,' but there are some key differences. Granite is cut from stone slab, while quartz is ground up and then sealed in a resin. Because of this, granite is only available in colors found in nature, with that rich, unique stone veining. Quartz comes in a wider number of colors. Both are durable: quartz is more water-resistant, while granite stands up better to heat. If you're deciding between the two, talk to our team.

Will Arizona's sun and heat damage granite countertops?

Granite holds up well to both. Because it's a natural stone, its color is UV-stable, so it rarely fades from the direct sunlight that fills many Arizona kitchens, unlike some surfaces that can lighten over time near large windows. Granite also resists heat, so a hot pan set on it typically won't scorch or discolor the surface, though using trivets is still a good habit to protect the sealer.

What's the difference between prefabricated and slab granite?

Prefabricated granite comes pre-cut to common countertop sizes and standard edge profiles, which usually makes it our fastest route to a finished kitchen. Slab granite is cut to order from a full slab, giving you the widest range of colors, veining, and custom edge and layout choices. We carry both at our Phoenix showroom, so you can compare them side by side and choose what fits your project.

How long does granite countertop installation take?

Timelines vary by project, but the process runs template, then fabrication, then installation. Once your granite is selected and templated, fabrication and install typically wrap within a couple of weeks. Prefabricated granite often moves faster (we can frequently schedule next-day installation) since it doesn't require the same custom cutting as a full slab.
