Common questions

How much will my quartz countertops cost?

To answer this, we'll first need to know how large your kitchen is, and how many square feet of quartz you'll need to finish the project. Then, we'll need to know which quartz you're going with: we have more than 200 quartz colors to choose from, and different colors and styles come with different per-square-foot costs. During your free in-home estimate, we'll work with you to estimate out your total project cost based on the average cost of quartz countertops in our warehouse.

How does quartz differ from granite?

Quartz and granite are both natural stone countertops. But, there are some key differences. Granite is cut from rock in slabs. Quartz, on the other hand, is ground and then sealed in a protective resin layer. Both are stone countertops, but, of the two, quartz is manufactured. This gives it some distinct advantages over granite. That protective resin layer means it resists moisture absorption and staining far better than granite. It's also incredibly durable.

Do quartz countertops need to be sealed?

No. Quartz is engineered from ground natural quartz bound in resin, which makes the surface non-porous. Unlike granite, it never needs to be resealed. The stain resistance is built in at the factory and lasts the life of the countertop, which is the single biggest care advantage quartz has over natural stone.

Can you put hot pots and pans on a quartz countertop?

It is not worth the risk. The resin that binds quartz is sensitive to high heat, and setting a hot pan, pot, or baking sheet directly on the surface can scorch or discolor it, sometimes permanently. Always use a trivet or hot pad. This matters even more in a Phoenix kitchen during summer, when cookware comes off the stove very hot.

How do you remove hard water stains from quartz?

Phoenix has very hard water, so mineral film and white spots are common, especially around faucets and on bathroom vanities. Wipe the surface dry after use to prevent buildup, and clean existing deposits with mild soap and water or a quartz-safe cleaner. For hardened spots, a plastic scraper lifts deposits safely. Avoid acidic descalers, which can damage the finish.
