When it comes to flooring, tile flooring is the most popular choice because of its durability and low maintenance. The tile flooring Phoenix offers is considered the best in US. Once installed correctly, the tile flooring has a life of more than two decades. Natural clay is used for making tiles which is environment friendly.

    Types of Tiles

There are two types of tiles namely Ceramic and Porcelain.

    Ceramic Tiles

Ceramic tiles are composed of minerals and natural clay-based products with addition of water. They are glazed which means that they can be kiln-fire coated and looks like a glass. These tiles have a good resistance against stains as one can clean them with a wet cloth. In terms of price, ceramic tile is quite inexpensive as compared to porcelain tile.

    Porcelain Tiles

Porcelain tiles consist of minerals and special clays and they go through a process of firing at very elevated temperatures. This firing process results in a surface which has more hardness and durability in comparison to Ceramic tile.

Ceramic and Porcelain tiles are highly recommended for homes where there are kids as well as pets because these tiles can be easily cleaned in case of any spills.

    Grout and its types

The gap between tiles is filled by grout so it creates a water resistant installation. Grout is classified into two types namely epoxy and cement-base.

    Epoxy Grout

This type of grout to great extent has resistance against water as well as stain. There is no requirement of a sealer for epoxy grout. It is really costly and professionals use it for applications of countertop tile.

    Cement Grout

This grout is the one that is popular in projects that are done by consumers themselves. They come in a variety of non-sanded and sanded grouts.

    • Non-sanded grouts – for joints less than 1/8 inches
    • Sanded grouts – for joints bigger than 1/8 inches

Usually a protective sealer is added to these grouts to avert it from stains. In order to increase water resistance, latex polymers are included with these grouts particularly in areas where there is usage of water.

    Size of Tiles

Tiles are available in different sizes and the size of tiles can completely change the look of a room. You can select tiles from as small as 1 square inch to as big as 24 square inches.

    Installation

Purchasing a tile is not enough. You must install it in a correct way as it will affect the life of tiles. If you are thinking of installing the tiles by yourself, don’t forget to watch the video guide as well as read the manual.

    Time for Installation

Generally a common person who wants to install tiles by himself may take 2 weeks to complete the installation of a 10x10 foot room which out of which half of the time for laying of tiles and the other half for grouting.

Therefore, make sure you have proper knowledge before you start installing the tiles yourself. If you want the best tile flooring Phoenix has in store for you, you can check them online. If you need guidance, the professional experts for tile installation are always there to help you.
